According to CBCP-ECY, the weeklong event is in line with a declaration proposed by the National Youth Coordinating Council which the former approved at a meeting in July 2003.

It reads: “That youth ministry awareness be launched extensively in the regions, dioceses and youth organizations: during the week prior to the celebration of National Youth Day  (Dec. 16), the regional councils prepare an effective program promoting youth ministry” (Click here to read more).

Dear partners in youth ministry:

Joyful greetings in the Lord Jesus on this Year of Faith!

In the observance and celebration of the National Youth Day (NYD) 2012, the Episcopal Commission on Youth (ECY) is pleased to send to the National Council of your youth organization (a member of the FNYO) the NYD2012 Formation Program.    With the themeRejoice in the Lord always![Phil 4:4], this formation program hopes to provide young people with a special moment of grace to become instruments of joy, hope, and new life.  I kindly enjoin your National Council to gather and lead our young people in a meaningful celebration of the NYD2012 with this Formation Program as a helpful guide.

Enclosed are the following relevant materials:

  1. NYD2012 Formation Program together with the Page cover
  2. NYD2012 Formation Program – Message of Pope Benedict XVI for WYD2012

I also take this opportunity to knock on your generous hearts for support our commission.  There is practice in our Church in the Philippines, indicated in the Ordo, where the 16 December Mass collection is meant to support youth ministry – seventy percent (70%) of which is allotted to the diocesan youth ministry office and thirty percent (30%) to the ECY.

As regards youth organizations in the FNYO, may I request for your share in the form of financial support, which you may remit directly to our account: EPISCOPAL COMMISSION ON YOUTH, PNB Intramuros branch, Account No. 101-7863000-17.  Your remittance will be a great help to support our commission and to promote our youth ministries.

On this Year of Faith, may we ardently and joyfully profess Christ’s love to our young people, inspiring them to commit themselves fully to Him and His Church, as our very own St. Pedro Calungsod has done.

Sincerely in the Lord,

+ JOEL Z. BAYLON, DD

Bishop of  Legazpi
