NYD 2014

Your Excellency:

Joyful greetings in the Lord Jesus! The Episcopal Commission on Youth (ECY) is pleased to provide you and your youth ministry office the National Youth Day (NYD) 2014 Formation Program.

This NYD2014 Formation Program celebrates the theme “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” [Mt 5:3], which the Holy Father proposes for young people to reflect upon through his message on the occasion of the World Youth Day (WYD) 2014.  A special feature of this program is a session on Pope Francis as a way of preparing for his apostolic visit next year.  Earnestly we enjoin you, through your youth ministers, to gather and lead our young people in a meaningful celebration of the NYD, which the CBCP has appointed every December 16.  A Report Form about the implementation of this program is also included.

To this end, may we also remind Your Excellency that, as the Ordo already reminds us, the December 16 Mass collection is meant to support youth ministry – seventy percent (70%) of which is allotted to your diocesan youth ministry office and thirty percent (30%) to the ECY.  We will be grateful that the share of the ECY be remitted directly to our account:

PNB Intramuros branch

Account No. 101-7863000-17

Your remittance will be a great help to support our commission and to promote our youth ministries.

The ECY expresses its gratitude to the Southern Tagalog Region (STR), with whom we have collaborated in creating this program, and in a particular way to Most Rev. BUENAVENTURA FAMADICO, DD of the Diocese of San Pablo and his youth ministers for hosting the dry run of this program.

As we welcome the Year of the Poor, may we continue working together in ministering among our youth, so that they may grow to have a heart that loves and serves the poor, exemplified by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fraternally yours in Christ,

Bishop, Diocese of Bangued
Chairman, CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth
